We schedule visits each four months with children who are on medication for A.D.D., A.D.H.D or other mood-related conditions. This schedule could be altered if your child suffers from a chronic condition such as asthma or if he/she is in need of more closely monitored medical attention. Starting with a newborn exam and then followed by exams at ages two months, four months, six months, nine months, 12 months, 15 months and 18 months, your child will then be seen annually from age two through age six. We follow the American Academy of Pediatrics for both wellness visits and immunization schedules. Listed below is a recommended schedule of well child exam visits. Other mental and physical developmental tests are available if there is a need. Our pediatricians will also ask about family medical history to determine if any hereditary medical concerns are present. Your baby or child’s well child visit will include a physical examination (height, weight, hearing, vision, blood pressure and heart rate) to check for health problems and prevent any future problems by assessing risk. It is important to monitor both of these forms of development. The mental and physical development of your child in their youth is a fairly quick process. The sooner medical conditions are found during your child’s development, the greater chance there is to properly diagnose, treat and even prevent certain conditions. Visits allow pediatricians to assess and analyze development comprehensively. Health problems and developmental conditions may not be apparent during your child’s development. As your child gets older, well child visits are recommended on an annual basis. During the early stages of your child’s life many different body systems are being developed and well child visits are recommended on a more frequent basis to assess development. The proper development of your child is important to their health for the rest of their life. ![]() During a well child visit at Wake Pediatrics in Raleigh, NC, we encourage you to ask any and all questions you have about your child’s growth, nutrition, development, behavior and general all around health.
